EFInA Intervenes in Pro-poor Finance
The disadvantaged position of the poor in Nigeria in accessing finance may soon abate, if the efforts of a non-governmental organisation (NGO), “Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access” (EFInA), sail through.
Experts that have followed the organisation’s activities closely, most especially its efforts at bridging access to finance by the largely unbanked population, said it is most likely to make remarkable impact on personal finance development in Nigeria.
The CBN has made known its intention to partner with EFInA. CBN governor, Chukwuma Soludo, stated that “access to finance, especially for the poor is one of CBN’s priority areas in its mandate of promoting and sustaining economic development”.

Access to finance: CBN reiterates commitment to the poor
The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has said that the apex bank remains committed to making financial services available to the poor. Speaking in Lagos at the inauguration of “Access to Finance Survey” a brainchild of Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access, Soludo said the decision stemmed from the fact that the lack of access to financial services by this category of the population had for long hampered their constructive engagement in economic activities and contribution to national growth and development.
